Welcome to Ship 00 – Donner
Sea Scouts is apart of the Scouting America program. Instead of hiking or camping, Sea Scouts go sailing and crusing. The Makai is a program for young men ages 14-21 who want to learn leadership, sailing, life skills, and how to have fun on the water.
We achieve our goal by operating two main boats.
The Donner
A 65 foot power boat, the Donner began its life as a US Navy Torpedo Retriever. She now serves as the Donner‘s main vessel. Powered by two Detroit Diesel 12V71 the Donner can make a top speed of 12 knots. The boat is operated by the Sea Scouts under the supervision of adult leadership. The roar of her engines was the source of her name.
The Dancer
The Dancer a 45 foot Ketch . This beautiful sailing vessel serves as the Ship 00’s primary sailing vessel. Onboard the Dancer the scouts learn the traditional arts of the sailor being able to operate the boat in one of the worlds most premier sailing venues, San Francisco Bay.
